Polyamide and polyester in sock and tights manufacturing
Polyamide and polyester are man-made, plastic-based products, they are an inexpensive, extremely strong, durable and highly adaptable material. They can be finished very thin or thick, stretchy, silky and see-through.
As they are not an absorbent material, it is more likely to stain and can increase foot perspiration and odour. They are quick and easy to wash and dry, and will retain, even vivid, colours after repeated washing.
Polyamide and polyester are often used in a mix with cotton or bamboo to increase the strength and durability of the socks. If used by itself, it tends to cause the feet to overheat and promote bacterial and fungal growth.
