Wool, and alpaca wool, durable, breathable, and warm yarns
Wool socks are known for their insulating properties, they are popular during the colder months of the year as they keep you warm. Wool is breathable, wrinkle resistant, and holds its shape well.
Wool is available in many different qualities; the quality depends on the breed of sheep. Merino wool tends to be the softer, better quality sheep wool and some of the softest, warmest and most durable socks are made of Alpaca wool.
Lower quality wool socks can be uncomfortable to wear, irritable and itchy.
Unfortunately, wool does hold odour and moisture more than cotton, wool does also require special care during washing due to its delicate nature, handwash or use of a garment bag is highly recommended.
